About Beverly
I am retired from teaching, but still love to keep my hand in helping young writers.
Here's my back story: I've taught a fifth and sixth grade combination classrooms, as well as many years as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher.
One of my first experiences was with a class of 5th/6th grade non-native English speakers that spoke six different languages. They were quite a mixed bunch, but highly motivated to learn. Their achievements in six months were AMAZING! Language Arts scores on the state assessments showed 10% increase overall, with a 13 % increase in writing proficiency.
It's all about the tools in your toolkit, and feeling comfortable pulling those out and using them!

My focus in teaching is on growing your vocabulary, your toolkit, and learning how to swap out 50 cent words for $10 words. We then work on putting the magic into your writing using those tools.
