Music lessons with 6 years teaching experience giving lessons of music theory to children and adults, with experience in care and special needs education.

Methodology

I have given lessons from beginners, right through to professionals. I start from the basics, using the kodaly approach for children and also for beginner singers.

For instrumentalists who are new, we start learning about the instrument as well as building up music theory on the side, as they become intertwined the more advanced you get as a musician.

I tailor my lessons for each individual who comes my way, and always take it at your pace and what you are comfortable with. I will try to push and challenge you in a positive way, aiding you to reach your goals.

Experience

I am currently training to become a primary teacher. I have been teaching privately for 6 years, teaching piano, voice, brass, music theory and general musicianship. I have a music degree and have studied music instrumental tuition as well as music therapy.

I also have worked in care for 7 years and have experience working with the elderly, young adults and children with special needs, such as autism and Down syndrome.

I am very passionate about music education and would love anyone who has ever wanted to learn to contact me.

PERSONAL SUMMARY
I am a very conscientious person and certainly up for a challenge. Working in the public eye has allowed me to gain exceptional customer service and communication skills. I love interacting and helping people and feel that I try to bring this into everything I do. I have recently graduated from Edinburgh Napier University having studied Music, and currently study Primary Teaching at Dundee University. I put lots of effort into everything I do and try to help others in any way that I can. I like to put myself out there and do as much as I can into making other people happy and helping the community. I enjoy teaching and working with people through music who have disabilities and learning difficulties.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As a musician, a lot of my time is spent practicing and attending music groups. Playing in various groups has allowed me to develop my leadership and ensemble skills. This includes leading a section and finding out how to encourage and support the other players. Playing as part of an ensemble has helped me understand and develop working together with people in a group setting. I have undertaken all 3 Duke of Edinburgh awards and volunteering at a kid’s club and care home – all of which has helped me learn about myself, about other people and how I can talk and support these people in the different ways that they may need. On a personal level, I enjoy swimming, running and hill walking.

Eleanor has a wonderful talent and to be able to share that with the world is incredible. We were in band together for years and she’s one of the most trustworthy and reliable people I’ve ever met. She is an excellent tutor and will continue to grow herself and her pupils. I definitely recommend Eleanor as a tutor.
