About Andrew
My name is Andrew "Drew" Sommers and I'm a musician from the US currently studying music at the postgraduate level at UCC in Cork. Before moving to Cork, I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2015 where I studied English, Music (classical guitar), and Journalism. Before my time as an undergraduate, I also played the trumpet and drums in the high school concert and jazz bands and have taken several years of piano lessons. Acoustic guitar and piano are my two core instruments. As an independent folk musician, I have garnered tens of thousands of streams on major streaming platforms and acquired much positive press from well-established outlets. I also have over a decade of professional work experience ranging from technical editing at an environmental consulting company to substitute teaching band classes in the US. Music is magic and is meant to be shared with others!

Learning guitar should be a rewarding experience whether you're a brand new beginner or you already have the basics down. I believe students should follow the music and the learning path that speaks to them, with the support of a knowledgeable tutor. After many years of experience as an independent musician and multi-instrumentalist, and spending time as a substitute teacher in the US, I hope to share some of my knowledge, curiosity, and enthusiasm for music and the guitar with others in Ireland. Through visuals, charts, deep listening, and hands on practice, you'll quickly get your fingers flying around the fretboard.
The typical lesson length is 1 hour but I am very flexible to whatever schedule best suits each student. All ages are welcome at the beginning to intermediate stages of experience. All you need is a guitar and curiosity to grow!
