About Ben
I'm a musician, audio professional, and producer based in the Denver area. I got my start as a classical musician playing double bass, getting my Bachleor's in music from Indiana University, and went on to study electronic music during my Master's Degree. I've spent the years since working in audio engineering and making my own music. I release experimental ambient music under the name CORBIT, and teach privately because I love sharing everything I've learned about music and music production throughout my career.
I think Ableton is one of the most exciting creative tools out there, and I love sharing this incredibly powerful tool with my students. Whether you're just getting started or you've been at it for a while, I'm happy to meet you where you are.

A typical lesson:
We usually start with what you're working on in your production journey: a track you're working on, a technique you want to learn, something that isn't clicking. From there we might dig into Ableton workflow, arrangement, synthesis, sampling, sound design, or mixing. We might pull apart a song you love and figure out what makes it work, do some ear training, or talk through music theory. We might also spend time building out your own sample and preset library, which I think is the best way to develop your own unique style. It depends on where you are and what you need.
Who this is for:
Beginners who just installed Ableton, intermediate producers who've hit a wall, advanced producers looking for new techniques or workflows — especially using Max For Live, or musicians from other backgrounds who want to bring their existing ear and theory into electronic music. I work well with people who are curious and want to understand why things work, and learn how to apply that to their own music.
What sets me apart
I'm don't want to teach you how to sound like anyone else. I want to help you figure out your own sound. That means sometimes we're deep in Ableton, and sometimes we're talking about harmony, listening closely to a reference track, or building the personal toolkit that makes your workflow feel like yours. I'm patient, I adapt to how you learn, and I'd love to hear what you're trying to make.
