I am currently studying music production in my 3rd year. I have tutored many of my colleagues and some college students. My style of teaching is all about getting the students to ask questions and explain their current understanding on topics so that i can effectively lead them towards being a better producer without confusing them.
I want to help you find your sound, mix your tracks, and find creative ways of shaping timbres, arranging tracks and producing quality electronic music to a releasable standard. I want to inspire you to create innovative, and unique music and teach you to critique and to eventually have the knowledge to teach yourself.
I want to help you get practical experience producing and composing music straight away. I believe in teaching with a very engaging hands on approach, allowing students to lead the way based on where they are in their development. From my experience as a student and a teacher, being hands on from the start is the best way to bring your passion for music to life.
The way I teach is to work with student's ongoing projects, offering immediate feedback and offering useful mixing, composition and arranging advice. Alternatively, the lesson can revolve around creating new projects from scratch, or going through the fundamentals step-by-step. Given my diverse education, I aim to offer flexibility in my approach to tuition.
I base my classes on a fun but rigorous approach to music technology. The reality of production is you can waste a lot of time mucking about in DAWs (digital audio workstations), regardless of your musical ability. A sterile approch needs to be taken to each aspect of mixing and mastering. Only after should the musical ability be applied to a strong knowledge and understanding of these aspects.
I approach each topic in a similar way to the University syllabus as I was taught, first establishing a better understanding of basic audio principles and techniques which inform all areas of audio production, before moving on to more advanced techniques which are perhaps more specific to the students' chosen field.
I teach function based. I first learn what the student is attempting to achieve with their lessons, and then I shape my programs based on those needs. They might just want to play music, or they might be looking to make a living out of it, either as a session player, an engineer or a producer. I can help.
I am a relaxed, conversational teacher and enjoy teaching others no matter their previous level of understanding. Music and audio isn't always easy, but if it isn't fun then there's no point! My style of teaching is to encourage an understanding of the subject from the ground up.
Classes are dependent on the students' preference: -Logic Pro X -Ableton Live -Pro Tools -Composition using MIDI -Score Writing (Sibelius) Send a message with any questions, and I'll be happy to answer! I have experience in all DAW's as well as classical scores, analogue synthesisers, mixing, mastering, recording techniques, writing for ads/film/games, and more! Lessons will be taught...
My teaching is based on prior knowledge & attainment. Once we establish a level of ability & learner goals, we can develop a course structured around budget, timeframe & resources. Lessons will start with some context / theory and questioning to tease out prior knowledge & understanding, and then develop on to practical application & exercises.
The approach I take is to work one to one on the students weaknesses, so first I need to assess where you currently are with your productions , and then proceed to build you to a level in which a record label would sign or a radio station will play your music.
Hi, l'm Kirk a committed, enthusiastic, hardworking person who is passionate about technology and learning. I give lessons with certificates. My techniques and my methods of instruction are structured from how I teach at leading Electronic Music Academies. Ive been told I am a great patient tutor.
I can tailor my lessons according to your needs, we can focus on production techniques then mixing or if mixing is what you are looking for we can focus more on that. I have used Ableton Live since version 6 so any curiosity you have about the DAW we can go through it. I also have a 5th grade in Music Theory if you are looking to know more about how it applies to production.
If you need to learn the basics find a school music teacher or sign up for a course at access to music, that will help you qualify as a music teacher or making tea's in a studio someone, Sure that's not why you want to learn music, take a masterclass and learn the secrets & knowledge you really need to make in this modern music industry independently.
I start with the basics of Recording, Mixing, Music Production and Sound Engineer with what I have learned from my own experience and from the different places that I have worked at. I am currently finishing a Phd in Music Technology.
I will show you how I mix from scratch, talking you through me EQ, compression, and reverb techniques namely, and then allow you to do the same, and review your product with timely feedback. Lessons go from beginner to advanced level workflows.
I follow the Montessori method in a sense - giving the student some subject matter of dense matter and allowing them to play with it, understand and adapt it in the best way that they can do - allowing them to remain open creatively
With a vast range of experience in both Sound, lighting and visuals for events and recording/producing in the studio, whatever you are seeking to learn, we can cater for you specifically.
My courses are offering the basics of mixing, arranging, sound synthesising and sound design, among other necessary music production, arrangement and composition skills, using the DAW Ableton Live as the main tool. The structure of the courses can be modified to the individual student's needs, according to their level and orientation.
Combining vital theoretical knowledge with real world applications. Students with production experience often bring along projects they're working on, where I can show them techniques to help improve and better themselves as an artist. I've also designed tailored courses for beginner producers that want to take a step into the world of music production.
Everyones method's of learning are vastly different, which is why I like to work individuals with each student whilst getting to know them and give them step by step landmarks to play with. This proves to work much more effectively so there is no time limit and no rushing students too quickly.
My teaching method is a very relaxed approch with alot of time spent on identifying faults and improving on them. With that I look at a very wide range of compositional techniques from specific instrumentation per genre to basic theory techniques.
I have taught music technology in Further and Higher Education, to students looking to enter the music and media industry directly. My teaching methodology is a mixture of problem centred learning and transactional learning, using authentic, practical scenarios backed up with instruction and accessible supporting materials.
I like to start the lesson by getting to know what music interests the pupil has and to do my best to start from the beginning, this will help me to know where would be best to start.
My students always appreciated the communication and the journey that I take them on whilst providing the knowledge, so they implement they learning more effectively with less of a stress and disappointment of the unavoidable little failures that is an inseparable factor of any development. I approach each session with detailed information that I am to pass during that lesson.
I will first provide the software you need (free of charge!) to start making computer-based music! From there we can start with the basics of arranging the basic elements of a song. I'll happily take it at whatever pace you feel comfortable.
The courses are customized to all levels of study, from the complete beginner, through to professionals already working within the industry. Tuition is fully tailored to the individual student’s needs with flexible schedules and a personalised course structure. Classes can be taught in the student´s home or in our sound studio in central Barcelona.
I am able to teach music production from the most fundamental level all the way to commercial/degree level - whether you have never made a song before and want to give it a try, or you have been producing for years and want to take your music to the next level. Each lesson is tailored to you.
My teaching method is to establish what a person currently knows, and then what it is what you want/need to learn. I then work out a map of how to get from A to B and each session will have specific aims whereby we can mark off what you have learned.
To be honest, there is no default methodology when engaging with clients, every musician or creator approaches the music making and learning process differently, accordingly, I tend to assess each client according to their developmental needs from an upskilling perspective, whilst also assessing their current level of proficiency; It is far easier to provide bespoke programmes for clients once...
