About Ryan
I absolutely LOVE music, and it brings me so much fulfillment to share my passion and knowledge with those wanting to learn more! I thrive in environments where I get to work with people, and I teach with patience, enthusiasm, and a smile - always.
I have been performing, singing, writing, and teaching music since I was a kid: I learned the guitar, clarinet, and bass in grade school, led my marching band and taught piano lessons in high school, studied composition and clarinet performance and tutored music theory in college, and I've since been teaching composition and music theory courses at BYU-Idaho as an adjunct faculty member these past two years.

My weekly lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes long, where I make sure to tailor the one-on-one instruction to meet the needs of the student.
- COMPOSITION: we focus on a piece of music that you've been working on to analyze it and improve it by implementing techniques from great composers.
- THEORY: we learn, analyze, listen to, practice, and compose fundamental melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic techniques found in great music from the past.
- PIANO: through the use of piano books, we study several excerpts each week as I guide piano technique, correct rhythms and notes, and instill confidence in performance.
- CLARINET: through the use of clarinet books, we study several excerpts each week as I guide hand and embouchure technique, correct rhythms and notes, and instill confidence in performance.
