About Martha
I am a violinist and pianist teaching students of any standard from beginner to Grade 5. I hold ABRSM Grade 8 in both instruments and study BA Music at the University of York. I offer 60-minute lessons for older students and 30-minute lessons for children. I particularly enjoy tutoring young persons and have experience leading musical workshops in primary schools. I have played as a solo player, ensemble player and orchestral musician and am highly professional and fun to work with.

I tailor my lessons to each student’s age, level, and goals. For younger beginners, I use stickers, a lesson notebook, and practice charts to keep learning engaging, positive, and fun, while building a strong musical foundation. I focus on making a first introduction to music exciting and encouraging.
For more advanced students, I place greater emphasis on technique, musical understanding, and effective practice. I support students’ aspirations by setting clear goals, exploring repertoire they enjoy, and helping them progress with confidence.
