My teaching methods vary depending on the student, as each are unique. I am a big believer in the discussion method ensuring students are engaged and feel able to seek help. My methods include class participation, demonstration, recitation, memorization, or combinations of these. If a student is a visual learner, I'll bring imagery into the lesson, whether it's understanding a lesson or memorising terminology.
I am a musical theatre student who has been learning music since the age of 7. I have taught a number of students musical theory tuition from grades 1-5. My students have achieved merit and distinction passes. Further, I have studied music to a Scottish Advanced Higher qualification level. I have also been learning clarinet, piano and singing since aged 7.
My name is Lucy Bastable and I am 19 years old. I really enjoy working with the public and meeting new people. I have gained experience working with the public through working as a sales associate at “Build-a-Bear Workshop” in Glasgow. I have also worked as a waitress in Cafe Roma in Clarkston. Further, I spent the summer of 2018 working as a counsellor at a summer camp in Canada. Whilst at school I also gained experience in a professional environment -in November 2014 I spent one week at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for my S4 work experience. I worked with children on a weekly basis at a sports’ club every Saturday morning and have tutored children different levels of music. Further, I am keen and responsible, frequently babysitting local children including my own younger brother and sister. In September 2017 I began attending the University of Glasgow to study Meduc Primary Education, but have since decided to study Musical Theatre which will begin in late August of this year.

Lucy is such a lovely, patient person who will work with you until you fully understand each individual section/concept of music/drama. She is a very determined person who makes it her mission to make her students more confident within both music and drama. I can truly say that she is an amazing tutor and mentor and I would highly recommend her to any age.
Lucy will truly go above and beyond to help as a tutor. The care she takes in order to help a student understand what she's teaching is truly remarkable, I couldn't imagine anyone more suited to helping others learn.
Lucy Bastable is a caring individual who always strives to build other people’s confidence and level of understanding. She is calm and will always find a way to help you understand something you are struggling with. From personal experience I was able to learn my entire script and also put it into action using Lucy’s tuition.
