About Joshua

As a native Mandarin Chinese tutor from China, I don’t just teach the language, but I also want to help students think, speak, and understand naturally in Mandarin the way it is actually used in real life.

Besides being a Mandarin tutor, having lived in Malaysia for more than 8 years, I have a deep and comprehensive understanding of the country, its people, and its multicultural environment. This allows me to explain Mandarin in ways that Malaysian students can easily relate to, including common language challenges, cultural differences, and real-life usage.

I am also holding a master’s degree in psychology, providing strong communication skills and a deep understanding of learning behavior, motivation, and individual differences.

About the lesson

Lesson Length
Typical lesson duration: 60 - 120 minutes
Flexible lesson lengths are available upon request.
My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and always student-centered.
I focus on helping students gain confidence, accuracy, and natural expression.

The class may include:
Communicative teaching – encouraging students to speak from the first lesson.
Pronunciation & tone training – building a solid foundation in standard Mandarin.
Contextual learning—teaching vocabulary and grammar through daily-life scenarios.
Adaptive pacing – lessons adjusted to each student’s learning speed and goals.

In short, all lessons are personalized to match your level, goals, and learning style.

My lessons are suitable for:
Complete beginners to intermediate learners
For Children, Teenagers, Adults
Learners aiming to improve daily conversation, academic Mandarin, or workplace communication
Individuals who prefer a supportive, scientific, and psychologically informed learning environment.
