About Anqi
I am a native Chinese speaker and a university student in Wollongong with a strong passion for language, culture, and communication.
I have broad interests including history, art, animation, manga, K-pop, yoga, and psychology, which often enrich my lessons. I enjoy connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds and creating a relaxed, supportive learning environment.
My teaching style is flexible, and I tailor lesson content to each student’s goals and interests. I am always happy to answer questions about the Chinese language and Chinese culture from my own perspective.
I believe teaching is a two-way process where both the student and I can learn from meaningful discussions and different viewpoints.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than memorisation. When teaching Chinese characters, I break them down into their components and explain their meanings in detail. I also connect characters with similar structures or meanings to help students recognise patterns and expand their vocabulary efficiently.
For spoken Chinese, I use real-life communication scenarios, such as daily conversations, travel situations, or workplace interactions. I simulate these situations during lessons so students can practise using the language naturally and apply what they learn in real life.
If students are interested, I also enjoy teaching Chinese poems, history, and cultural background. Lessons can go deeper into cultural discussions, helping students understand not only the language itself but also the thinking, values, and historical context behind it.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, with flexibility depending on students’ goals and learning pace. Lessons are structured but relaxed, with plenty of opportunities for interaction and questions.
I am a native Mandarin speaker and a university student in Wollongong. I have experience tutoring Chinese to international college teachers in China, and I speak fluent English, which allows me to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
My lessons are designed for adult learners of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students who want to improve their speaking skills, character recognition, or cultural understanding.
