About Clementine
I am a French graduate with a background knowledge of Latin and Italian, and I studied abroad in Quebec. I got As at GCSE and A level French and a 2:1 in my BA from the University of Leeds, with a distinction in spoken French. I taught English at a university in Paris for a year after graduation, babysitting a 4-year-old French girl teaching her English several days a week. I taught students aged 17-40 at various levels of fluency, and I was encouraged by the progress many of them made. Most of my class elected to stay with me for the second semester and would stay to chat in English after class. I know the difference it makes when learning a language to practice it often and in a relaxed way, and this makes spoken exams a lot less stressful. I also have a good level of conversational French from living around French people, as well as good grades for French grammar as part of my degree. I have enough experience helping out with French classes during my studies that I (hopefully) can make it interesting for younger students to help them engage with vocabulary and sentences.

I have experience in planning for individuals from my English babysitting, when we would usually play first to get in "English mode" and then do reading and listening activities in English. I am happy to adapt lesson structures around the child and what keeps them engaged best; for me as a child, this might have meant listening to French songs while doing a word search.
During my year teaching in Paris, I taught final year conversation class to university students my own age and many of them said I had helped them and they appreciated that I would indulge their interests in English culture or language, such as regional accents in the UK. I am willing to go off on a small tangent if a student poses a good question, and I think this helps to keep students engaged.
I have developed speaking games and writing activities for students aged 4-24 so I'm sure I can find something that works.
