About Jon
German is my native language, and I grew up and was educated in Germany. I enjoy helping learners of all ages develop their German, whether they are starting from scratch, working towards an examination, returning to the language after a break, or looking to communicate more confidently.
I take a patient, structured and encouraging approach to teaching, adapting lessons to each student's level, interests and goals. My academic background includes a PhD in Politics and International Relations, which has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and communicate with people from different backgrounds.
My aim is to make German both accessible and rewarding, helping you build a solid understanding of the language while developing the confidence to use it.

Every lesson is tailored to your current level, learning goals and pace. We can focus on speaking, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading or writing, depending on what you need most.
For beginners, I help build a strong foundation in pronunciation, essential vocabulary and everyday communication. For school pupils, lessons can reinforce classroom learning, clarify difficult grammar and develop greater accuracy. For intermediate and advanced learners, we can work towards greater fluency, more natural expression and confidence discussing a wider range of topics.
I use conversation, structured exercises and authentic German materials to make learning practical and engaging. I explain mistakes constructively so that you understand not only what to change, but why.
Whether you are learning German for school, work, travel, personal interest or the pleasure of mastering a new language, we will work towards clear, achievable goals.
Get in touch to tell me about your current level and what you would like to achieve. I would be happy to discuss how we could approach your lessons.
