About Xiaoyu
I studied Pharm. Sciences at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. Teaching has been a passion I have followed on the side throughout my studies for many years now. Be it language or science - pharmaceutical sciences is an incredibly interdisciplinary subject which gave me knowledge in maths, physics, biology and especially chemistry - seeing students improve, thrive and in the end pass an important exam has been a great motivator for years.

Lessons are one hour and combine grammar instruction with spoken practice. Grammar is taught systematically — cases, verb placement, tenses — rather than incidentally, as this is where most English-speaking learners of German encounter difficulty.
Before the first paid lesson I establish the learner's goal and current level, since exam preparation, conversational fluency and reading comprehension require different approaches.
Materials include authentic German sources alongside structured exercises. After each lesson I provide a written summary of what was covered and any assigned practice. I often offer in addition to the lesson that the student can reach me anytime outside the lesson and ask for tips for an exercise or have any question answered - for even more efficient study success.
