About Wang

I am a student from Top University in Taiwan. I made lots of friends from western countries and most of them came to my school to study Chinese/Mandarin. We did lots of Language exchanges and after that I found myself talented in teaching and explaining. Different from normal tutors, my teaching style focus more on practical using and is able to adjust to the need of each students to suit their goal of learning Chinese/Mandarin.
I believe learning a different language helps people to appreciate the world more, and enrich their lives more. If you want a useful and amazing learning experience, it will be my pleasure to share it with you.

My lessons are mainly with games and communications.
The games are used for words remembering. Games help us to categories the certain words suitable for different situation in everyday lives, and each picture will be used to explain these words in detail.
Communication helps students to make the words they remember become the words that can be used in real life. Besides communication practicing, in this process we will emphasise more on explaining how the Chinese words combine to those phrases and use deductive logic to guess the meaning of slams and idioms.

  • When did your passion for teaching Mandarin begin?

My passions for teaching began with my learning. I met a talented English teacher in my high school.
His ways of teaching vocals are logical and interesting, which offer a way that helps me remember one hundred words in a 2hr class.
I was inspired then and thinking about putting these methods in learning/teaching every language.
  • In your opinion, what does it take to be a successful Mandarin speaker?

Tone. Lots of my students they remember lots of vocals and can even make a complete sentence. However, they complained that they always failed to communicate with locals when they were in Asia. Many of English speaker use English tone to speak Chinese. The point is, Mandarin has four distinctive tones that help the native speaker to understand the meaning of the words. The words can have the same pronunciation but have totally different meaning because they have a different tone.
  • What would you say to a student who says learning another language is useless or boring?

I am the with this idea. Maybe in the future we can have has full interpretation system that helps to translate during a conversation.
Leaning language is a choice or passion. If someone doesn't have that, there's no point to force them to learn.
