About Alvaro
I am a Qualified Teacher (QTS) having a Primary school teacher Degree specialised in English as a foreign language. With a total of 5 years teaching and mentoring experience, one to one as well as group. I have been in two training periods in a Spanish school with kids from all primary levels from 6-12 years with groups of 25 students which allows me to know how to teach each student according to their age something that the parents of my former students’ value as a very positive aspect. Moreover, I have experience working as private tutor teaching different subjects depending of the needs of each pupil and backgrounds with really good exam results and successful. Among the different existing methodologies my classes are based on the case of language classes in a mainly communicative approach, planning activities based on interactions and the application of the language in real life situations. I am a native Spanish teacher, so my Spanish classes would be in that language from the first day using only the other language to clarify doubts that may arise or explanations, in this way the student will be involved in a Spanish context becoming more accustomed to listening and speaking about it. As a teacher I believe that the most important role of an educator is to build children’s confidence in their own natural abilities. To get that in my classes I use a large number of resources and customised materials and authentic (excerpts from films, TV series, recorded dialogues, songs, cartoons, games worksheets) engaging my students and making learning a fun, positive experience for all of them. In addition, I also teach mathematics, French, science, Geography and English. The classes are aimed at primary school pupils at KS1 and KS2 levels but could also be extended to a higher age range for languages, but always with the aim of adapting the teaching to the individual needs of each of the students.
