I know what it’s like to be on the other side. English is my second language, and I learnt it the way many of my students are learning Spanish now, slowly, awkwardly, sometimes frustratingly. I believe the best way to learn a language is to actually use it, not just memorise verb tables. Every lesson I teach is built around speaking from day one, even with absolute beginners. Mistakes are part of the process; I’ll never make you feel embarrassed for them.
Before we start, I’ll ask why you want to learn Spanish, travel, family, work, exams, or just for fun, and design lessons around that. A student preparing for a holiday needs very different vocabulary than someone sitting their A-level oral, and both deserve a plan that fits.
