About Carmen
My name is Carmen, and I'm a native Spanish speaker from Peru currently living in Oxford. I'm studying an MSc in Construction Project Management while sharing my passion for the Spanish language and Latin American culture through teaching.
I enjoy helping people gain confidence and discover that learning a new language can be fun, practical and rewarding. As someone who has also learnt English, I understand the challenges language learners face, so I always teach with patience, encouragement and empathy.
I love working with students of all ages, from young children to adults, and nothing makes me happier than seeing their confidence grow as they begin to communicate naturally in Spanish. My goal is to create a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment where every student feels comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and enjoying the learning process.

Hello! I'm a native Spanish tutor from Peru, where our Spanish is widely recognised for its clear pronunciation and neutral accent. This makes it an excellent variety of Spanish for learners who want to develop clear pronunciation, speak naturally and confidently, and easily communicate with people across the Spanish-speaking world.
I offer friendly, personalised and engaging Spanish lessons for children, teenagers and adults. Every lesson is carefully tailored to each student's goals, interests and learning style, creating a supportive environment where learning feels enjoyable, practical and rewarding.
I currently teach a 2-year-old British child, who is making wonderful progress through fun, play-based activities that introduce Spanish naturally from an early age. I also teach an 8-year-old student who continues to build confidence and communicate more fluently every week. In addition, I work with a 31-year-old adult learner, focusing on creating more complex sentences, improving pronunciation, developing a natural accent and speaking Spanish confidently in everyday situations.
Whether you're learning Spanish for travel, work, GCSE or A-Level exams, university, or simply because you love the language, I'll help you achieve your goals step by step with patience, encouragement and practical lessons that fit your pace.
Lessons are available online or in person in Oxford. Beginners are always welcome, and I'd be delighted to help you start your Spanish journey!

Every lesson is personalised to your goals, level and learning pace.
Lessons are available online or in person in Oxford at a mutually convenient location, such as a library or café. There is no additional travel charge for online lessons or for lessons held in Oxford city centre. If you would like lessons at your home or outside central Oxford, any travel costs will be agreed in advance based on the journey and transport costs. Discounted packages are available for students who book multiple lessons. I welcome learners of all ages, from young children to adults, and I strive to make every lesson enjoyable, practical and engaging.
