About Alfred
I’m a 25-year old tutor based in north London. I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2022 with a first-class honours BA in Modern Languages. I can tutor a variety of subjects to GCSE - English, Maths, French and Spanish, either in person or online. I’m also happy to help with Common Entrance and scholarship exams.
I attended The Hall School, Hampstead, and gained an academic exhibition to Westminster. I understand the difficulties and pressures associated with applying for such schools.
It can be really helpful to have some one-to-one help to ensure you are properly getting to grips with new ideas. For example, I remember not only having to learn a load of new mathematical processes but also how to apply them to difficult problems. I aim not just to impart knowledge but also to teach students how to think both logically and creatively.
Although I did well academically, I did not find it easy. I have dyspraxia and ADHD and this makes me sympathetic to the many challenges students can have with school work. I appreciate that not everyone learns in the same way, at the same pace and many can benefit from a creative and tailored approach to their education.
After graduating, I initially thought I wanted to go into teaching and spent a year working as a languages assistant at a secondary school in Lambeth.
It was a great experience but the parts of the job I found most rewarding were when I had the opportunity to help individual pupils with their studies, being able to explain and iron out any concepts they were finding difficult. This is what I love about being a tutor.
Do please get in touch if you think I might be able to help you with tutoring.
