About Gabi
I graduated from NYU with a B.S. in Applied Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. While at NYU, I was a writing tutor for international students who lacked familiarity with English writing conventions. My two years as a writing tutor challenged me to convey dense messages in digestible ways. Since graduating, I've been a Student Advocate at Harlem Children’s Zone, where I promote the academic, social, and personal success of High School students. I have a real passion for writing and helping young people, so I love blending the two! Other fun facts about me include: my main in Super Smash Bros. is Kirby, I have a fabulous cat named Mango, and I’m afraid of the ocean.

I treat every tutoring session as a collaborative process—while there are certainly people out there that can read over a paper and edit it for language and grammar, my sessions help students become better writers all together. During sessions, we’ll figure out how to spin prompts into something you’ll enjoy writing about, and how to sharpen language beyond grammar and syntax. The great thing about writing is that there’s a lot of rhetoric involved… most of the work is literally just talking about it!
