About Isabel
Hi! I’m Isabel, an educator with 7 years of experience teaching and supporting students from JK to Grade 9. I currently serve as the Head Educator at a specialized outdoor hockey school, where I lead a Grade 6–9 homeroom and design inquiry-based, hands-on programming for learners from kindergarten through junior high. My teaching style is calm, supportive, and student-centered. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, including those with complex academic, behavioral, and socio-emotional needs. I prioritize building confidence, strengthening foundational skills, and helping students truly understand what they’re learning instead of just memorizing. My lessons focus on differentiated, holistic learning — because no two students learn the same way. A big part of my approach is going back to the foundational skills that make strong readers and writers at every level. Whether you’re in Grade 1, Grade 12, or navigating university coursework, we break writing down to its core components. Think of it like visiting a clinic: we don’t just treat the “symptom” in your writing; we dig into why an issue is happening and build it back up from the root. With 7 years of experience teaching the Ontario curriculum, I’ve supported students across all levels in literacy, essay writing, study skills, and academic organization. Beyond the classroom, I also specialize in thesis writing, creative writing (especially poetry), and film analysis. My own creative work has been published in an independent magazine, and I love bringing that passion for language into my lessons. My goal is to make learning feel clear, empowering, and truly personalized so you can grow with confidence, one skill at a time.
