About Isla
I’m a current degree student studying filmmaking, but my journey began with a deep love of fine art. My passion for composition and colour, and the way form and tone can tell stories and spark emotions, has shaped everything I do. I’ve studied art throughout my education and spent years experimenting across styles and mediums: from storybook illustration and painting large scale décor& art pieces for events, to private commissions, logo services and digital designs. That wide scope has given me not just skills, but a true understanding that art sits at the centre of life. For me, the line between passion and profession has always been blurred. Teaching is a way for me to share that passion, encourage others to discover their own voice, and keep building a life and career that revolves around creativity.

My tutoring style is always shaped around the student. I start by getting to know their goals and how they like to learn, then tailor a programme that suits them. As a hands on learner myself, I understand that figuring out exactly how each student ticks is essential to creating a tailored learning plan. I keep sessions fun, light-hearted, and encouraging, making sure students feel comfortable while also gently pushing them to step outside their creative comfort zone. Part of my approach involves looking at the work of artists who have come before us, not to copy, but to use as reference points for inspiration and to help students figure out what excites them. At the same time, I place strong emphasis on play, experimenting with different materials and media so students can discover skills for themselves and grow their own artistic voice. This balance of inspiration and exploration helps them decide their own creative path moving forward.
