About Jessica
During the DofE program, I volunteered to teach underprivileged children. It challenged the way I approach a lesson because I had to consider their compounding existing issues. I therefore provided a lot of flexibility and choice in my lessons. On the other hand, when situations were different, I changed my approach to a more intense one with regular meetings, fixed agendas and checklists. Such situations included mentoring younger students in high school before exams and helping university fresher students gain confidence in modules like physiology and anatomy prior to coursework submissions.

I let the student guide me in the way I need to teach. I ensure that there are constant discussions on the teaching methods being used because each learner is different. In a few sessions, I usually understand the best way to interact with a student. I love using mind maps, drawings and quizzes to learn. In biology, drawings are a must as it can help you visualise the mechanisms you are learning about.
