About Faraz
I am a former mathematics Olympiad medalist with 8 years of teaching experience. My background is in mathematics, computer science, and quantitative finance. I hold honors degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science from the University of Arizona, and also mathematical finance certificate from York.
I have published research in asset pricing and risk management. I have also consulted for frontier AI labs, where I worked on mathematical reasoning in models at the IMO and Putnam level.

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime." That's the idea behind my lessons. I don't just show students how to do a problem; I make sure they understand why it works, so they can handle new problems on their own.
I tailor lessons to each student. We start by figuring out where the gaps are, fill those in, then build problem-solving skills with practice. Most students get stuck because of something a few steps back, not the topic they're currently on, so that's where we look first.
I tutor Pre-Calculus, Calculus (IB HL/SL, AP, first-year university), coding, quant finance, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, and competition math (AMC, AIME, COMC, Waterloo). In person in Burnaby or online. Evenings and weekends available. English or Persian.
