About Rob

I’m Rob and I’m a Music Producer based in York, UK. I offer mixing, mastering and pro recording studio sessions as well as teaching music production. After completing a Maths degree at Leeds University in 2003, I went on to study music production and sound recording within the studios at Leeds Conservatoire. During this period, I also studied Jazz with renowned guitarist, Tom Quayle. In 2008, I established Silent City Recording Studio in Leeds, becoming sought after for my rich and cinematic production style, always focussed on promoting the artist’s unique sound. From 2018, I focussed my experience and skills on Mixing and Mastering. In 2020, I moved to York and set up a new production studio and run recording sessions at Hohm Recording Studio in Bradford. As a trained multi-instrumentalist, I draw inspiration from my eclectic background in Jazz music, Metal, Hip Hop, EDM, Pop, and Classical. I work with everyone from independent DIY artists, to signed bands, to businesses. Past clients include: NHS, Erasmus, York St John University, Ex Cathedra, Alex Mendham & His Orchestra, B:Music, Mike Moran, Joey Sturgis Tones (USA), Tom Quayle.

I cover both artistic and theoretical topics in real client mixing sessions. You'll see the exact processing chain and understand the mindset to develop the desired sound. As a highly skilled musician, I can also discuss production and arrangement, with a plethora of knowledge in music theory and compositional techniques. Where possible, I love to use your own songs and production projects as examples when demonstrating techniques. Available for beginners who are just starting out, or more challenging lessons for those that already have experience and want to explore advanced topics. - One-to-one online lessons via VST Connect with lossless audio. - Navigate with me through real client mixing sessions, see the techniques used. - Learn how to use these skills on your own projects. - For ages 11 and above! - Sessions are one hour.

Rob has years of experience as a recording engineer & producer, so he’s the ideal person to get lessons off if you’re starting out with mixing or wanting to learn new tricks of the trade.
His production work is next level & has produced, mixed & mastered 3 albums & an e.p of mine, which lead me onto wanting to do lessons with him to improve my own recording skills. Rob is a great tutor & I soon picked up the techniques I needed to make my home recordings sound better. I would highly recommend.
