About Amaka
Hello, I’m Amy, an experienced English and Reading Comprehension tutor and the founder of Amy Stars Academy.
I have over 10 years of classroom teaching experience and hold a BA in English and Literature. I now specialise in personalised online tutoring for children aged 6–16, supporting pupils with English, Reading Comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing and 11+ preparation.
I believe every child learns differently, so I take time to understand each pupil’s strengths, challenges and learning pace. My goal is to create a supportive environment where children feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes and develop their skills.
I look forward to helping your child become a more confident and capable learner.
Whether your child needs extra support with English, wants to strengthen their reading comprehension or is preparing for an important entrance examination, I aim to make every lesson engaging, supportive and purposeful.
I look forward to helping your child discover that they can become a confident and capable learner.

My lessons are personalised, interactive and tailored to each pupil’s needs and learning pace. I use practical exercises, questioning and guided practice to build understanding and confidence.
For Reading Comprehension, I focus on vocabulary, finding information, inference and answering questions accurately.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suitable for children aged 5–13, including pupils preparing for the 11+ or needing extra English support.
With over 10 years of teaching experience, I make learning engaging, supportive and purposeful. I believe every child learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style, pace and activities to help each pupil make meaningful progress while keeping lessons enjoyable and engaging.
