About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura. I have a First Class degree in Biology and a background in teacher training and youth work. I enjoy helping young people make sense of science, especially when a topic has felt confusing in class.
My online GCSE science lessons are friendly, patient and tailored to you. We can go back over the basics, work through a difficult topic or practise exam questions together. I’ll explain things in different ways until they click, and you’ll always have space to ask questions.
Biology is my specialist subject. I undertook teacher training but did not complete the qualification, so I’m clear about my background and the support I can offer. My aim is to help you feel more confident in science, one lesson at a time.

About the lesson

How I teach: I start by finding out what the student feels confident with and where they’re getting stuck. I explain topics in plain language, use diagrams and real examples, then work through questions together before asking them to try independently. I adapt the pace and revisit topics when needed.
Lesson length: I offer 60-minute online lessons, with shorter 30-minute sessions available for focused revision or younger students.
My background: I have a First Class BSc in Biology and undertook teacher training, although I did not complete the qualification. I also have experience working with young people through youth work. I am building my tutoring practice, so I would not describe myself as an experienced private tutor.
Who lessons are for: GCSE science students, including those who want to build confidence, catch up on a topic or prepare for exams. My strongest subjects are biology & chemistry and I can support other GCSE science topics within the student’s syllabus.
