About Mohinee
Hey!
I’m Mohinee, a Bharatanatyam Kalakshetra-style dancer and teacher from India. I have been dancing since childhood and have trained in Bharatanatyam for 5+ years. Dance has always found its way into my life — through solo and group stage performances, classical-fusion performances, and now through teaching.
My first guru was my mother, who was a dance teacher herself and remains one of my biggest inspirations. I have also trained under Guru Priti Gayen Mistri of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. I am currently continuing my Bharatanatyam training under Guru Balambal, a Kalakshetra Foundation alumna from Chennai. I am also continuing to deepen my classical training through Sakthi Sivam College, affiliated with Thanjavur Tamil University.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which has further strengthened my interest in human expression, creativity and the relationship between the body, mind and movement.
I never originally planned to become a dance teacher. Somehow, teaching kept finding me. People around me repeatedly encouraged me to share what I knew, and when I finally began teaching, I discovered how much better I felt doing it!
I started teaching in August 2026, and this journey is still new for me. I’m learning and finding my own way as a teacher while helping my students find their own way through dance. Now, as I begin reaching students globally, I’m excited to keep learning, growing and exploring new horizons together.
Bharatanatyam gives me structure, discipline, grace, expression and a deep connection with Indian culture and divinity. At the same time, Bollywood and creative movement give me the freedom to explore beyond those boundaries. I love bringing these different sides of movement together while helping each student discover their own way of expressing themselves.
My philosophy is simple: you don't choose art — art chooses you. My role is to help you discover where it is taking you!

My classes are structured, interactive and personalized to each student.
In Bharatanatyam, we begin with Namaskaram and a warm-up, followed by step-by-step learning of new adavus, movements, rhythm and tala. I explain concepts both theoretically and practically, demonstrate them before students practice, and give individual corrections on posture, technique, expressions and mudras.
I introduce one step at a time so students never feel overwhelmed, and I clarify their doubts throughout the class so they can practice confidently at home. A typical class includes 10–15 minutes of Namaskaram and warm-up, 30–35 minutes of practical learning and practice, and 10–15 minutes of theory and revision. My teaching is professional, but also warm, fun and flexible. I pay attention to each student's strengths and areas for improvement and adapt my approach rather than teaching everyone in exactly the same way. I currently teach students from ages 4 to 60, from beginners to intermediate learners, through 1-to-1 and small-group classes.
For Bollywood, I create and adapt choreography according to the student's comfort, ability and goals, including personalized routines, choreography for special occasions or reels, and advanced choreography.
I am also taking beginner-level Expressive Arts sessions using concepts from psychology and movement to explore emotions, confidence and self-expression, with intermediate and advanced sessions being developed progressively.
My belief is simple: art is for everyone, and every student deserves the space to find their own way of expressing it.
