About James
I'm a passionate traditional Irish musician with over 20 years of experience playing the flute and tin whistle. Hailing from South Sligo, a region steeped in Traditional Irish music, I was fortunate to grow up immersed in its rich musical heritage, learning from some of the finest traditional musicians in the world along the way. My journey has taken me through numerous Fleadh Cheoil competitions, both as a solo performer and in groups and I've had the joy of releasing my own traditional music CD. I have also been featured in “In Nearly Every House: Irish Traditional Musicians of North Connacht” a collection written by renowned musician Gregory Daly. As a primary school teacher and current master's student, I combine my deep love for Irish music with a strong educational foundation. Teaching music allows me to share the rich heritage of Irish traditions and I find immense fulfillment in guiding students to discover their own musical voices. Through personalized, online lessons, I aim to inspire and nurture a lifelong appreciation for traditional music in each of my students.
