About Zak
I have had over a decade of professional teaching and performing and get great joy in imparting my knowledge onto others. Playing worldwide for the likes of David Gilmour, Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainwright, Richard Thompson and more. Throughout that time I have also built a career as an educator that I am very proud of. I've had over a hundred one-on-one students, taught seminars at Cecil Sharp House, released video lessons for the esteemed Homespun Tapes and host an annual guitar camp in Woodstock for over 100 people. I have taught both one on one, run seminars at Cecil Sharp House, and organise an annual guitar and songwriting camp where I teach over a hundred students over a week in New York. This has all been alongside my full-time job as a session and touring musician around the world for some big and highly renowned names including - David Gilmour, Emmylou Harris, Nick Cave, Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy, Shawn Colvin, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Chris Difford (Squeeze), Patty Griffin, Richard Thompson and Linda Thompson. I am well versed in a variety of styles but am especially expert in hybrid picking and fingerpicking in folk, folk/rock, country but have taught and performed in areas far beyond this. Lessons can be screen recorded for follow-up study and when helpful I will supply tabs and/or additional video. Lessons can be regular or irregular.
