About Matt

I love exploring literature and linguistics, and I want to share that enthusiasm with my students! My tutoring is built around listening carefully to what you need, so we can work together at your own pace. Whether you're trying to make sense of a challenging text or looking for a structured approach to exam questions, I’ll help you break things down step-by-step. Drawing on my background in curriculum leadership, exam preparation and examiner experience, my goal is to strip away the stress, build your confidence, and help you trust your own ideas.

About the lesson

I believe every student can grow in confidence with the right guidance. My one-hour lessons are tailored to each learner’s needs, combining a strong understanding of texts with clear, practical steps for tackling examiner questions. I encourage students to develop their own voice and personal interpretations, helping them produce thoughtful, convincing and well-supported responses.
I am a qualified English teacher, AQA examiner and experienced Head of Department, an MA in Modern Literature and over 10 years’ tutoring experience. I teach Key Stage 3, and can support all GCSE English specifications, A-level English Literature, A-level English Language and A-level Film Studies.
