About Philipp
I have extensive experience in teaching at Oxford as a tutor and demonstrator in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics, and Biochemistry. I have been teaching both undergraduate and graduate students at Oxford from first to final years. Between 2017 and 2020, I was conducting the interviews for the Oxford Biochemistry undergraduate admissions process and was actively involved in the candidate selection.

For my life science tutoring, I usually begin the teaching process by providing a specific example of a biological process or molecular mechanism, such as diseases, before then explaining the general concept or process. I want to make sure the student does not only learn the correct terms, facts, and details, but also understands the underlying principles. In order to achieve this, I regularly discuss not only the topic itself, but also how the corresponding scientific evidence was generated through experiments – knowing this will lead to much higher marks in tutorial essays and exam questions!
