My approach to teaching can be tailored to the needs of the student. I can offer help with understanding the content of the course, help with improving and using case studies as well as help with exam and writing technique. I believe that the key to improving grades is learning to "think like a geographer". This is really about being able to see the big picture and how the various parts of the course are interrelated, and my teaching always emphasises this. I also provide notes for the lessons for students, so they can focus properly on my teaching.
I have a BA in Geography and an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford. I have been offering A-level geography tuition for 3 years and have helped numerous students improve their grades and meet university entrance requirements over that time. Before working as a private tutor I worked in the field of international finance and have experience of the practical application of geography as well as the teaching side. I left the job for health reasons but have recovered sufficiently to work on a part time basis, and feel passing my knowledge to a new generation is a rewarding use of my time.
There is a £5 extra charge for travelling over 10 miles. Before starting lessons I suggest an initial meeting to discuss the help you would like, and there is no charge for this initial meeting.
