About Brandon
Brandon Butler is a passionate educator and performer based in Southern California. As a teacher, his first priority is the well-being of his students, and providing them with the tools they need in order to succeed. He believes that in order to succeed on stage, a person needs healthy practice habits and a growth mindset off stage. With 15 years of experience playing the trumpet and having gone through a number of setbacks in his own playing, Brandon has firsthand experience relearning to play with healthier habits, and has become a better teacher from it.
As a performer, Brandon has had the opportunity to collaborate with so many amazing musicians that have inspired him both as a musician and as a person. He earned both his Master’s Degree (2025) and Bachelor’s Degree (2023) from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (BCCM) at California State University, Long Beach. During his time at the BCCM, Brandon studied with Principal Trumpet of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, Ryan Darke. Notable ensembles Brandon has performed with include the American Youth Symphony, Los Angeles Brass Alliance, and the Bob Cole Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. Some highlights from his time at the BCCM include performing in The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C with the Bob Cole Wind Symphony, as well as performing Jurassic Park in concert with the American Youth Symphony in Royce Hall at UCLA. Brandon was also a recipient of several scholarships while he was at CSULB, including the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Scholarship, the Martin Figoten Performing Arts Scholarship, and the President's Scholarship, the highest merit scholarship given to CSULB students.
Brandon is a lifelong student, always striving to improve and expand his horizons on and off the trumpet. He genuinely loves teaching, and is so thankful to have the opportunity to help others grow as musicians.
