About Mary
I gained an English Literature-based MA at a Russell Group university and then qualified as a secondary school teacher. I have successfully taught a range of subjects, including English, Philosophy and Religion, Functional Skills Maths and English, History and Geography. I have also marked GCSE papers for a national exam board, which has given me an insight into what examiners are looking for.

I believe that knowing and understanding individual learners is the way to ensure success. My GCSE and A Level lessons are tailored to the learning preferences and styles of each student, and I promote a growth mindset in each session. For many of us self-belief is as important as knowledge and skills. Lessons can range from 30-60 minutes depending on your preference. I have taught English and Religious Studies for almost a decade, and have also worked in colleges and SEND. I approach my lessons with expertise, flexibility and an eagerness to listen to the needs of those I teach.
