About Stuart
Hi there, I'm Stuart, I have a passion for science, in particular biology and especially anything related to the natural world. My background is in Marine Biology (BSc Hons), Environmental Management (MSc) and Conservation Biology (PhD). As a result I have strong interests and experience in all associated fields from biological systems and genetics through to statistics and data analysis.
I have also taught beginner electric guitar during my studies and love playing and listening to music when I'm not chatting about science!
During my PhD I taught and tutored across a range of courses and degree programmes from biology and geography to marine biology and science communication - from first year undergraduates i.e. recent A levels graduates through to masters level students.
My teaching style is very flexible. I am keen to tailor the lessons to the specific needs of the student in both the content and the style - from very particular areas of biology, glycolysis in A level biology as an example, to broader topics such as coral reef systems - I also look to key into the style of teaching that works best for the student, from visual approaches through to more auditory lessons and/or reading/writing based sessions. I often find a combination of relaxed conversations with targeted questions works well as a starting point to maximise comprehension of a topic.

Tailored science tutoring to match the learning needs and styles of the student. The initial meeting (30mins for free online) will be to discuss exactly what the student needs and how they learn best. My aim is to provide the time, space, and support to really help cement ideas that otherwise the student has been struggling with in class.
