About Oliver
I am a thoughtful and passionate mathematics student studying at the University of Nottingham and living in the Nottingham area. Several years ago, I passed my own A Levels with flying colours, achieving perfect marks in the A Level Core Mathematics examinations. I have been tutoring mathematics for several years, particularly enjoying working with A Level students and those students taking the STEP (Sixth Term Examination Paper) in their last year of sixth form.

Any professional in the field of mathematics education will tell you that active learning is the most powerful method of learning mathematics, and I incorporate this ideology into my own lessons.
The structure of my lessons depend on the student's motivation for receiving private tuition: For the revision of previously studied material in preparation for exams, I take the approach of recalling previous content with my students and tackling past exam questions with them - but for approaching new content with my students, I prefer to guide my students to discover the theory by themselves, by variable hand holding and careful motivation. This active approach not only enlightens students on the beauty of mathematics but also solidifies their confidence in themselves and the truth of the material!
My fundamental philosophy when approaching mathematics tuition is that the student already has the abilities to achieve their goals. I will try to understand the student and, to the best of my abilities, help them discover the beauty of mathematics.
