About Nicholas
I hold the ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification and STA level 2 Safety Award for Teachers. I have 15+ years of experience teaching swimming and 10 years working as a lifeguard in the Newbury area. I work with a variety of group ages, including primary and secondary schools and adults, on 1:1 basis and in small groups.
I currently work part time with Hydrokidz/ Swim Expert school in Newbury where I teach groups of children and provide private lessons including learn to swim and competition preparation.
I'm an avid swimmer, regularly taking part in competitions such as Triathlons and Open Water Swimming. I like wild swimming and swim in the sea all year round (yes, including winter!). Any excuse to get into the water :)
I hold a full UK driving license and have a swimming insurance with Institute of Swimming.

Within my teaching I use my lifeguard experience to create a variety of lessons and adopt to students needs. With my outgoing personality, my lessons are fun and engaging. I help students to overcome their fears and encourage them to try new things like the straddle entry, all happening in a safe environment. This, as a result helps students to be more relaxed and really enjoy the swimming.
