About Ayanda
I am very passionate about teaching English and as such I take my profession very seriously. The idea that I can make a difference and have the potential to make a lasting impression is the reason why I enjoy teaching. I love the variety that teaching offers because no two days are rarely ever the same with all the new faces I get to meet.
I have a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental and Water Sciences and on realizing my love for learning and wanting to share it, I decided to get a TESOL/TEFL certificate while also studying towards my Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase teaching. I mostly have experience volunteering English tutoring lessons in my hometown.
Teaching is more than just a job for me but a way to help my students develop academic and life skills.

I offer English lessons using an appropriate mixture of teaching styles which makes me a rather unique teacher. I am proficient in the the English language and this is what my students (of all levels) can expect from a typical English lesson with me.
In some of my lessons I use the directing style where my students learn through listening and following directions. I tell them what to do, how to do it, and when it needs to be done via lectures, assigned readings, audio/visual presentations or demonstrations.
In most of my lessons I use the discussion style which I enjoy because I get to teach and have my students learn through interaction. I love to encourage my students to think critically and have opinions through a lively discussion about a specific topic while learning the English language.
Lastly, in some lessons I use the delegating style that way my students can learn through empowerment. I assign tasks that my students work on independently such as quizzes which we then go through and discuss the answers together.
My teaching lessons are tailored to suit young and adult students of beginner to intermediate learning levels.
