About Lawan
Hello! My name is Lawan, and I am a native English speaker from the United States. I am also Kurdish, which has given me a deep appreciation for diverse backgrounds, language heritage, and global communication right from the start. I love to travel and experience new cultures firsthand.
I know exactly what it feels like to learn a new language because I studied Spanish for three years. This experience taught me the patience and methods needed to truly master a second language. Outside of tutoring, I love playing sports like soccer. Playing soccer has given me a fantastic opportunity to team up and connect with people from many different cultures all over the world.
My primary goal as a tutor is to establish a professional, welcoming, and high-quality environment for my students. Because I am exceptionally patient, organized, and reliable, I focus heavily on building your confidence so you feel completely supported. I bring a natural understanding of everyday American English, vocabulary, and modern phrasing to our lessons, and I look forward to helping you achieve your language goals!

My Approach
I believe the best way to learn English is by speaking it! I don't use boring grammar books or strict drills. Instead, I create a relaxed, stress-free space where you can practice speaking, make mistakes, and build your confidence naturally. We will focus on real-world words and phrases that native speakers actually use every day.
What a Lesson Looks Like
Our 60-minute sessions are casual and fun:
First 10 minutes: A friendly warm-up chat to get you comfortable.
Next 25 minutes: We talk about a fun topic you choose, like hobbies, music, travel, or movies.
Next 15 minutes: We practice a real-life situation, like ordering food or introducing yourself to someone new.
Last 10 minutes: I give you helpful, gentle feedback on pronunciation and new vocabulary words.
