About Alexis
Hi! My name is Alexis, and I enjoy helping students make math feel simpler, less stressful, and easier to understand. I know that math can become frustrating when a concept doesn’t immediately click, and I believe sometimes all it takes is having someone explain it in a different way.
I’m patient, encouraging, and focused on helping students work through problems step by step rather than rushing to the answer. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking the time they need to truly understand what they’re learning.
I especially enjoy working with students on arithmetic, foundational mathematics, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra. I’m happy to review the material a student is currently working on beforehand so that our time together can focus on exactly where they need support.
My goal is not only to help students solve the problem in front of them, but also to help them build confidence in their own ability to work through math independently.

My goal as a tutor is to make learning feel less overwhelming and more manageable. I believe students learn best when concepts are broken down into simple, clear steps and they feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting something wrong.
I offer tutoring in arithmetic, mathematics, algebra, geometry, and basic science. I adapt each lesson to the student’s individual needs, learning style, and current level. Rather than rushing through material, I focus on helping students understand why something works so they can become more confident solving problems independently.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is currently learning and where they are having difficulty. We then work through the concept together step by step, practice examples, and spend extra time on anything that is still confusing. Students are welcome to send me the topic or material they are working on before the lesson so I can prepare and make our time as productive as possible.
What sets my approach apart is patience and encouragement. I understand that not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace, and sometimes a concept simply needs to be explained differently before it clicks.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students, as well as students working on foundational math, pre-algebra, introductory algebra, geometry, or basic science who would benefit from patient, one-on-one support.
