About Sara

Hi! I’m an English tutor with over 7 years of tutoring experience. My background spans communications, psychology, and education literature. I’m known for creating a warm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges. I adapt my sessions to each student’s needs and learning style, making reading and writing feel more manageable — and sometimes even fun.

Students often come in feeling frustrated or stuck, but leave feeling more confident, capable, and excited about their progress. I also have experience supporting students with dyslexia and ADHD.

About the lesson

Various studies have proven that for effective learning to take place, a fun and stress-free environment needs to be established. My background in child psychology has provided me with insight on the importance of motivation in the process of learning. In my experience, students respond well when they are engaged in what they are learning. My aim is for students to feel confident in not only their skills, but also their ability to learn something new.

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the students of Sara.

Perfect! Sara was very patient with my son. She taught him some writing strategies to help provide greater detail in his writing, create more interesting sentence structure, and how to tackle open ended questions. This helped increase his confidence in writing and improved his grade in English.

Sara's response
With Jonathan, Emily’s son, our sessions were focused on overcoming writing anxiety and improving his ability to write in detail by showing vs. telling. Jonathan regularly showed up on time, ready to engage with the lessons I put together. I’m incredibly proud of the improvement he’s shown in just a few months. Scoring 87% on a final English essay is no small feat!

Perfect! I highly recommend this tutor. They are incredibly patient and always take the time to work through any challenges with me rather than rushing. They have been especially helpful in suggesting resources and learning strategies that are well-suited for ADHD and dyslexia, which has made a real difference in my confidence and progress for the MCAT (which is a medical school standardized exam).

Their supportive and understanding approach creates a comfortable learning environment, and I always feel encouraged to keep improving. I'm very grateful for their dedication and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate tutor.

Perfect! Sara has been working with my 12-year-old daughter for the past six weeks, and the experience has been incredibly positive. My daughter genuinely enjoys their sessions and looks forward to working with her each week.

Sara is organized, consistently on time, and comes prepared with thoughtful lessons that are clearly planned. She creates curriculum with ease and assigns helpful homework that reinforces what they’re working on together. Her approach is patient, kind, and very supportive, which has made a big difference in my daughter’s confidence.

In just a short time, we’ve already seen noticeable improvement in my daughter’s reading and writing skills. Sara has a calm and encouraging way of teaching that really connects with our child.

We feel very grateful to have found her and look forward to continuing to work together for years to come. I would happily recommend Sara to any family looking for thoughtful and effective educational support for their child.

Find out more about Sara

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
Ever since I was in grade school, I was always drawn to English or creative writing classes for the simple reason that it allowed me the ability to express myself and to think deeply. Having majored in Communications and Psychology, I knew I had a knack for writing and decided to give back by teaching.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I love the quiet of tuning out the world and tuning into a piece of writing when I'm in a flow state. Through practice, I have been able to develop a system to ensure my writing is well thought out, and expresses exactly what I mean to say. I love teaching this to my students and helping them to convey their thoughts effectively.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
It's incredibly rewarding to realize that you can make a difference in someone's life by simply passing along knowledge. I love seeing improvement in my student's and watching their confidence grow as their skills improve.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
Absolutely! Mrs. Cho and Mrs. N – it's incredible the impact that a positive teacher can have on your confidence and learning.
What are your keys to success?
To show up, to keep working on something even if it seems difficult. For whatever I'm trying to accomplish, a huge part of it I recognize is showing up regardless of how I feel. It's important to stay consistent and to bet on yourself.
