About Markus
I’m a Materials Engineering grad from Winona State University, where I also spent three years tutoring engineering, physics, and chemistry. In that time, I helped students not only complete their homework and prepare for exams, but also truly understand concepts that once felt impossible. I know these subjects can feel like a mountain, but with the right guide, they become more like a steady hike :) Outside of academics, I’m an active guy who loves golf, catching a good movie, and traveling to new places. My style? I'm down-to-earth, supportive, and all about helping you feel confident. Whether you’re diving into something new or aiming to level up, I’ve got your back! Below is the lesson plan I generally follow:
- Getting to Know You: We begin with a quick chat about you—your goals, interests, and what’s been challenging. This helps me customize the session to suit you and creates a comfortable vibe.
- Building on What You Know: We start by reviewing what you’re familiar with to connect to the new topic. For example, in chemistry, we might go over basic reactions before tackling stoichiometry, following the way classes build up.
- Explaining It Clearly: I break down the topic in simple, clear terms. I’ll ask questions to get you thinking about the material, a method schools use to help it stick.
- Practicing Together: We solve problems together, starting with easier ones and moving to harder ones, just like your courses do. I’ll provide clear feedback right away to help you improve, a proven way to learn.
- Trying It Solo: You’ll work on a problem by yourself to apply what we’ve covered. I’m right there if you need help, making sure you feel confident.
- Wrapping Up and Planning Ahead: We go over the main points to lock in your understanding, using a quick review method that boosts memory. I’ll suggest practice problems or study tips to keep you on track for next time.
