About Lawrence
I am passionate about teaching philosophy, and I enjoy helping students become interested in the subject too. I have recently submitted a thesis for a PhD in philosophy, and I have a number of years' experience teaching undergraduate seminars at UCL, the LSE and Birkbeck.

As a tutor, I aim to support each of my students by building their confidence and transforming weaknesses into strengths to enable so that they can achieve the best possible results. I do this by focusing on topics that they might be struggling with by explaining the material and asking questions to check their understanding and mastery. I also encourage them to spend as much time as possible on practising exam questions and past papers to ensure that they are as well-prepared as possible for their exams. I work together with them through past exam papers to strengthen their exam technique and skills, and boost their confidence. For regular students, I offer weekly support throughout the academic year as they learn new topics in classes, which helps them to reinforce their knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the material.
Each lesson typically lasts 1 hour, though I am happy to offer longer or shorter lessons depending on individual preferences. I have over seven years of teaching experience, and my academic background includes just finishing a PhD in philosophy at UCL, and two master's degrees in philosophy from UCL and the LSE, as well as an undergraduate degree in physics.
I teach lessons for students studying for A level and undergraduate philosophy, and GCSE and A level religious studies and ethics, although I am very happy to teach adult learners in these subjects too.
