I believe that *everyone* has the potential to learn and excel if they find the best method of learning for them. I aim to challenge my students to push themselves to meet the targets they have set for themselves, with respect to their own goals, life circumstances, and abilities.
I will go through the basics of Logic, the philosophical method. After which we can progress to syllogisms, symbolic logic, Western Philosophy and ethics. The approch will be simplified so the student connects with the subject matter, much like Maths.
I have taught Philosophy at the Italian state grammar schools for decades. Now I am attending a PhD at KCL. In my class I both put the philosophical ideas into the historical context, presenting the philosophers who invented and discussed them, and into the conceptual system of the so called philosophical disciplines, such as ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, aesthetics, anthropology and ethics.
Subjects are approached thematically, and when possible chronologically for topics analysed from a historical perspective. Emphasis is placed on the teaching of mainstream narratives along with skills in critical knowledge for its evaluation which is vital for essay based subjects.
I provide tuition to Primary pupils preparing for school entrance examinations through to A level students preparing for their examinations. Lessons are engaging and focused on promoting progress during each session. Each session ends with a plenary exercise to demonstrate what the student has learnt and what needs to be developed.
I am a highly organised academic tutor who aims to encourage and foster intellectual curiosity in my students. I have the energy, passion and commitment needed to make a positive impact on students’ lives. I am someone who can not only help students with their academic goals, but also make learning fun. .
I have a passion for teaching and working with children. I had a very hard time in school struggling with ADD and dyscalculia while trying to maintain good grades, until in my sophomore year I was lucky enough to work with an amazing teacher who changed the way I worked and studied and made school much easier for me.
My teaching method is small number of groups or individual one of one tuitioning as I believe that smaller numbers allow mass knowledge to be restored at a higher level than larger groups where focus can often lack in understanding and providing full assistance to the students as a tutor
I have a flexible approach to teaching depending on the level and subject of interest. I always try to adapt my methodology to my students. Some learn better with creative approaches, such as teaching historical method with varied and 'non-historical' sources, whereas others benefit from careful analysis of historical texts and of the students work.
I am an experienced online tutor and distance tutor who gives intensive feedback to written assignments, online tutorials and occasionally home visits and gallery tours.
As a dedicated learner and educator, I am passionate about my subjects and keen to teach the very basics as well as, for example, help students at the undergraduate level make some sense of it all. I am actively engaged in performing arts and creative writing. I love stories and use them in my teaching whenever I can.
I'm a firm believer in establishing a really strong relationship with a tutee. Honesty and a bit of humour is key to this. I know how much difference sitting in a classroom with a teacher whose company you actually enjoy makes. Key to my teaching technique is reviewing past-papers in anticipation of upcoming questions.
I enjoy exploring topics with zeal! I have deep passion for all of my knowledge areas, and can adapt well to student's learning habits. I can teach younger students (14+) up to A-level standard. I'm also proficient at essay-writing skills.
To set tasks, such as a news report or short essay, and go over them thoroughly and in detail. Learning from mistakes or learning from what you didn't do or could have done differently has always worked best for me.
I will structure lessons according to a students' area of interest and desired number of sessions. I will provide PowerPoint slides of pre-prepared images and lists of key texts. My aim is to develop a student's understanding through comparative exercises and would like them to gain an awareness of theoretical and philosophical issues.
Simply if children are able to invest in the idea of learning, there is no limit to what they can achieve. I implement this in the classroom, engaging students with the content and ensuring that they actively process the information. I do this by introducing creative mechanisms and games to gain this investment and motivation.
Hi there I'm Jiwan, currently studying PPE at York. I live in hounslow over the holidays and I'm happy to give lessons to anyone studying GCSE RS or A/AS level philosophy and ethics.
Coming to study in London was the best decision I have ever made because it enabled me to discover parts of myself that I did not know existed. I was by myself in a country that I have never been to before and this allowed me to explore my creativity. To study politics in a moment when history is being written is fascinating.
I believe that the vast majority of teaching at A Level and schools in general is useless. I am a thorough believer in a meticulous approach which identifies the fundamental parts of the course and builds a structure around it.
While I have mainly taught university-level philosophy, I am able to cater to GCE A Level students as well. I teach my encouraging students to get familiar with the main texts and instil critical thinking skills by asking them challenging and interesting questions.
I tend to alter my methods to suit the requirements of each individual, weather they are visual learners or verbal i will tweak my style to greatly enhance Learning.
My teaching method is directly inspired by my own teachers and mentors who imparted so much to me along my educational path. I believe in an honest and straightforward approach, one that aims always to provide a model for my students while also helping them to see in me a mentor who himself still has much to learn.
My teaching method is based on a dynamic interaction with the student so that the import of what is being studied can be linked back to and help explain real world experiences and events. Learning should be enjoyable yet challenging, empowering people to engage with ideas and knowledge in their complexity.
I strive to keep my lessons very simple and clear. I make sure that the student is in control of the majority lesson structures. Initially, I will speak with the student to know more about the subject, but most importantly, outline the topics they are struggling on.
• Teaching GCSE History, AS and A2 History and Government & Politics • I am a big believer in visual learning. History and Politics can often become too abstract so I like to visually represent the connections between ideas, events, etc. on a piece of paper or whiteboard to give a much clearer picture.
Depending on subject of teaching I chose my methods of it. In history and philosophy I prefer to use a dialogue and method of conversation instead of just remembering dates and historical facts. In all studies i prefer understanding prior to blindly knowledge of facts. When in comet so some sports activities and fitness industry I always chose experience and examples over theory itself.
I can teach students doing their GCSE's or A-Levels. The three most effective ways to revise are by planning questions, focusing on writing style and understanding content. Our lessons will mostly focus on these elements. However, if there are other aspects that you would prefer to focus on then I can aid you with those too.
