About Hanumantha Rao

I am Hanumantha Rao, a PhD-trained scientist with over 10 years of experience working at the intersection of academic research and the biopharma industry. My scientific journey has taken me from graduate research in neuro-oncology and drug discovery to postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and into senior industry roles at leading Boston-area biotechnology companies.
Throughout my career, I have worked across Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, and Clinical Pharmacology — not as a generalist, but with deep, hands-on expertise in each. I have designed and validated complex bioanalytical assays, led translational pharmacology programs, authored regulatory submissions, and applied advanced PK/PD modeling tools used by the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.
I am passionate about science education and believe that the best learning happens when theory is grounded in real-world context. Having mentored junior scientists, co-ops, and research associates throughout my career, I understand how to break down complex concepts into clear, approachable lessons tailored to each student's level and goals.
Whether you are a student trying to master a challenging concept, build practical laboratory skills, or gain a competitive edge entering the biotech industry, I am here to guide you with patience, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

As a PhD-trained scientist with over 10 years of hands-on industry experience spanning Clinical Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Molecular Biology, I bring real-world biopharma context to every lesson — something textbooks simply cannot offer.
My teaching approach centers on building deep conceptual understanding first, then connecting theory to practical application. I help students understand not just what happens, but why — whether that is how an antibody assay is designed, how enzymes are characterized biochemically, how immune pathways translate into drug targets, or how PK/PD relationships drive clinical dosing decisions.
A typical lesson might begin by reviewing a core concept — such as ELISA design, flow cytometry panels, compartmental modeling, or CRISPR-based gene editing — followed by working through real experimental data or a hands-on workflow together, mirroring exactly what is done in biotech and biopharma laboratories every day.
What sets me apart is that I have personally worked with MSD ECL, Luminex, ELISA, LC-MS/MS, multi-color flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, ddPCR, CRISPR engineering, Western blotting, and population PK/PD modeling tools like NONMEM and Phoenix WinNonlin. Students are not just learning theory — they are learning the practical skills and scientific thinking that hiring managers in the biotech industry actually look for.
These lessons are ideal for:

Graduate, PhD, and undergraduate students in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Biomedical Sciences
Students seeking hands-on lab technique training aligned with real biotech industry workflows
Pre-med or medical students tackling pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, or immunology
Early-career professionals transitioning into clinical pharmacology, drug development, or bioanalytical sciences
Students preparing for Certara certification exams (WinNonlin, NONMEM)
