About Chidinma Angela
I have over seventeen years teaching experience, because I started teaching right from when I was in secondary school as student. Then, I represented my school in quiz competitions and I had to organize tutorials for my other teammates, so that we can all be updated with the same information.
I carried on with this practice even into my undergraduate studies. Though I was admitted to study Botany I would teach tutorials on Chemistry to other undergraduate students in lower levels struggling with the subject. At a point I had to start teaching tutorials to my own classmates when I discovered that some of them wanted to quit school because they taught the course was hard. The effect of my tutorial was amazing as my course mates had a rekindled interest to study and finish school and in 2008 we all graduated from the programme. The tutorials not only had a positive effect on the people I taught it also had an excellent effect on me because I was the best student in my department all through 2004 - 2008 and I graduated with a First Class, the best graduating student in my department for the 2007/2008 academic session and was also the best graduating female student in the Faculty of Life Sciences that same year.
Teaching for me is a life style. It is a joy not a job. After graduating from the University, I was retained as Lecturer at the University of Benin, Nigeria where I formally began a career in Academia since 2010. I have taught over 7000 students from across different levels in the University. Out of my love for education and the students I teach, I organized more hands-on workshops and tutorials outside the normal teaching schedules, this is to increase the interest of my students to study and see learning as fun. Sometimes, I would invite some of my colleagues to participate in these tutorials. The result was amazing, as there was drastic increase in the number of students who come for my classes compared to my colleagues; improved participation of students during lectures and over 90% of the students passed the course with a minimum mark of 50. I passionately believe that the best teaching occurs when students comprehend underlying principles and can apply them to problems in new contexts. I am currently away from the University on study leave to pursue my PhD.

I am a selfless person who loves sharing knowledge and gets my side-kick from the joy in people's face when they have solve for themselves what was initially a puzzle to them. I am a motivational speaker who enjoys spending time with children and young adult; because I know that they are in the formative years of their life and if they get it right now they will rarely get it wrong in future because they can find their steps back even, if they deviate. I give tutorials on Maths, biology, chemistry and geography to primary, secondary and university students.
Many a time, I have had to share some of my experiences with my students to encourage them and enable them adjust easily into the school environment. Till date, although I am away on study leave I am still in touch with some of my students in Nigeria through conference videos on social media. I send them academic publications that they are unable to access. For me the relationship is more than just a teacher- student relationship, it more of a friend support network.
