About Sakura
I have been a private tutor and tutored through higher education institutions since 2013. I have tutored all ages from children to adults, but I have most experience with teens and college-aged students. I currently teach political science at Temple University, and have gathered experience teaching through Zoom and Skype with all of the technological pitfalls that may entail.
I received my BA in Political Science, French Language & Literature, and Philosophy from Moravian College in 2016; my MA in Political Science from Lehigh University in 2017; and my MA in French Studies in 2018.

My tutoring method tends toward one-on-one meetings, tailoring the content of lessons to the student's needs. I first discuss these needs with the parents and/or individual prior to taking on a student. I have a strong focus on all four modes of language comprehension: aural, oral, writing, and reading. I believe that understanding how English (or anyone's native language) works is one of the necessary tools in learning a foreign language. As such, I am a strong grammarian, and focus on relating what my students currently know about English to help develop familiar knowledge in French.
Finally, I am very patient, and have had experience with individuals of widely varying comprehension. I invite students to ask questions and take the time necessary to express themselves. I offer homework help as well as pronunciation and repetition aids.
