About James
I am a physics graduate who is looking to tutor after spending time helping some younger relatives (and older ones too) with their maths recently. I think anyone can learn these things, but the problem is most of the time they're taught by people who are mathematicians, or scientists and they explain them in ways that aren't really helpful for the rest of us. I might have a physics degree, but I'm not a "geek", and I struggled for ages to learn things because the people teaching me couldn't communicate well, I want to change that for you!

My teaching method is to listen to my students, before we do anything I need to know what it is you're struggling with so I can help you. There isn't a one size fits all approach to tutoring and nor should there be! I'm happy to tutor anyone from GCSE to undergraduate degree level, but whereas someone may be having issues with the whole of algebra at GCSE, it might just be integration by parts that's proving an issue at university.
Once we know what you need to brush up on, we'll break it down into manageable steps. If you're a keen cook like me, you'll realise most of these things are sort of like a recipe, or rule book and once we work out how we make that work for you, then you'll have benefitted from something it took me nearly 5 years to learn for myself!
