I'm currently available to take on students that might need extra maths or physics tuition at GCSE and A-level - I’m happy to tutor any age!
Throughout my four years at university, I’ve enjoyed tutoring people of all ages in Maths and Physics – so much so, that I’ve set my research to one side so I can help students achieve (and exceed!) their target grades.
From being an enthusiastic and eager Maths and Physics student all my life, I have a comprehensive knowledge of the syllabi. I achieved A*/9 grades in both subjects at GCSE, and again at A-level, gaining multiple scientific awards along the way, including a prestigious scholarship at a Russell Group university for my undergraduate degree.
From my career in academia, and as a recent GCSE and A-level student myself, I have an up-to-date understanding of the syllabi, and know exactly how to achieve A*/9 grades. Getting great exam results is not just about having knowledge, but being able to apply that knowledge to any exam question. Each of my lessons are tailored to suit every student’s individual needs, which is the beauty of having a personal tutor.
My previous students consider me to be approachable, empathetic and patient. As a Tutor, I am always here to support my students with whatever they are struggling with and I believe every single person has the potential to achieve the top grades.
I am recent graduate of Imperial College London with an Upper Second Class Masters degree in Physics. As a Physics MSci student, my degree choice requires very quick learning skills, mathematical ability, and analytical thinking. This has allowed me to achieve 10 GCSE's at A-A*. I have also achieved A-levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics all at an A*, and Chemistry at an A.
Throughout my studies I have been involved in many extra-curricular academic activities, projects, and worldwide competitions, allowing me a great insight into the academic world and how to progress through the educational system.

I have worked on many academic project throughout my studies, and been nominated for awards for my work. For my MSci Thesis, I worked on the Solar Orbiter spacecraft before and after its launch. Additionally, I have worked in various academic sectors, for example, I have presented to primary school children whilst working for a mobile planetarium outreach group. I have also worked as a temporary policy officer for the Royal Astronomical Society.
Katie is an incredible tutor. She helped me with my maths and was so good at explaining problems in different ways to help me understand the questions. She's super helpful and always reliable. I recommend her to everyone I know!
I have known Katie Simkins since October 2016 when we both began our undergraduate studies at Imperial College London. She has subsequently proved herself to be an excellent student due to the hardwork and devotion she places in all aspects of her studies. Furthermore, Katie was also a tremendous help to myself and other peers when she regularly and successfully assisted with the mathematics and physics modules in our respective courses. This showed excellent time management skills and teaching ability.
It is for these reasons that I have no hesitation in recommending Katie to yourselves. I am sure she will make an excellent addition to your team of tutors.
I think Katie is a trustworthy tutor because she is reliable, friendly and honest. She is patient and well mannered with a kind nature.
Katie is also very knowledgeable in her subject and will have no trouble relaying that to those whom she is tutoring.
Katie, is an extremely loyal, dedicated and committed individual. Katie has extremely high standards regarding her work ethic. I've never seen anybody work as hard as her with her attitude towards her academic career. The results speak for themselves. Katie prides herself for getting the job done, and for finding out whatever information is available, no stone is left unturned! I believe Katie will be a fantastic tutor, and any student under her care will receive a wealth of knowledge from the subject that she is offering to teach.
