About Jacob
With such little understanding of the subjects that are taught and learned in the present day, the number of teachers who properly know their subjects inside and out are sparingly few. As a result they all seem to simply read from a textbook given to them to teach, but this wouldn't be engaging to anyone. A teacher who knows their subject is able to do so in a manner that sparks interest in their students so that they think about why the content is interesting, relevant and useful.
This is why I aspire to teach well, so that all my students may learn to appreciate and enjoy the knowledge they obtain over various disciplines and how all of it fits together comprehensively and even intuitively within the larger picture.
Having obtained a master's degree in Physics at the University of Edinburgh and several years of tutoring experience, I've obtained a deep understanding of the subjects I teach and have established efficient mental techniques for teaching my many students over the years that will help them think more critically and curiously, not only across their various subjects of interest, but also for the rest of their lives.

In my professional experience of being a tutor for several years I've adapted my lesson planning to its optimal performance by targeting the areas of weakness in my student's performance and establishing an easier mechanism for them to intuitively tackle the problems they're given. I've experienced this to be the overwhelming stumbling block that most students face as without proper correction they continue to make the same mental mistakes in reasoning repetitively.
Once an intuitive habit has been established, all the methods learned are tested against exam questions to become very familiar with the proper techniques needed to answer them sufficiently.
For the most efficient learning my students usually have 1-2 hour lessons every once or twice a week depending on their level of comprehension.
